Phase 1 Treatment
Phase 1 orthodontic treatment — sometimes called early or interceptive orthodontics — focuses on guiding jaw growth and tooth development while children are still growing. Starting treatment at the right time can help create space for permanent teeth, improve bite alignment, and support long-term oral health.
Early orthodontic care doesn’t always mean braces right away. Often, it’s about setting the foundation for a healthier, more confident smile as your child grows.
What to Expect
- An initial orthodontic evaluation (often around age 7/8)
- Personalized treatment planning based on growth stage
Possible use of expanders, limited braces, or other appliances - Regular monitoring as teeth and jaws develop
- A second phase of treatment later, if needed, once growth is complete
